Crafted to highest standards by master luthiers in Japan, Revstar Professional guitars represent the pinnacle of the new Revstar series. Revstar Professional guitars feature chambered bodies designed to sculpt tone and reduce weight, with carbon reinforcement in the body and neck to improve vibration transfer. Positions 2 and 4 slightly delay the opposite pickup for a subtle phase shift that offers a fresh take on classic “in-between” sounds. The push/pull Tone control activates a passive boost with an effect similar to overwound pickups—darker highs, increased mids and lows, and an aggressive character. The Japanese-made RSP20 features carbon reinforcement in the neck and chambered body, dual humbucking pickups, 5-way switching, and a Focus Switch, providing exceptional versatility.

Body

Body: Chambered Mahogany

Chambered mahogany is a wood with internal cavities that reduce the weight of the guitar and increase resonance. It offers a warm, full tone with improved sustain while retaining the rich tonal characteristics of mahogany. This material is popular with players looking for a combination of depth of sound and comfort.

Neck

Neck: 3pc Mahogany

The three-piece mahogany neck is constructed from three layers of mahogany for strength and durability. This material provides a warm, rich tone with excellent sustain, while offering stability and resistance to warping. It's ideal for players looking for a warm sound and a reliable neck.

Fretboard

Fretboard: Rosewood

Rosewood is a dark, dense wood that offers a warm, rich tone with excellent response and sustain. The rosewood fingerboard is valued for its smoothness and comfortable feel while offering durability and longevity. It is popular for its rich sound and classic aesthetic.

Pickups Configuration

Pickups Configuration: HH

The humbucker-humbucker configuration means that the guitar is equipped with two humbucker pickups. It offers a powerful, full sound with high output and low noise, ideal for rock and metal.

An excelent guitar, there's no doubt about it. Hardware, pickups, the sound of them and the unmistakable japanese craftsmanship, everything is top notch!

Leider.

Basically a very good instrument, although the sound is rather unusual. The out-of-phase intermediate positions are not my taste and I would have liked the bass cut function of the cheaper Element series to be installed instead of the focus switch (mid-boost, which removes all highs and therefore makes them very dull). The basic sound of the guitar is also different from that of regular solid-body guitars due to the hollow chambers - you have to like that. The hardware is OK, the tuners are top-notch. The ergonomics are very good, the weight is still bearable. I am rather disappointed with the quality of workmanship. I have/had several Yamaha guitars made in Japan - they were all better made. There are small unsightly spots in the varnish at the neck-body transition. The stainless steel frets are only moderately well polished - Ibanez, for example, can do better on its prestige models. I also find the apparently subsequent matting of the neck (presumably with steel wool) a bit rustic. It would have been better to use a satin finish as the final coat. Overall, not as great as expected. Unfortunately.
